Ten Ways to improve your photographs

1.

Look your subject in the eye: Catch the beauty of the eyes!
2.  Use an uncluttered background: Busy backgrounds will distract from your subject!
3.  Use fill-flash outdoorsEliminate those unwanted shadows!
4.  Move in close: Fill the space in the viewfinder
5.  Move it from the middle: Try putting your subject to the right or the left of the picture-you will need to lock the focus first and then recompose the photograph.
6.  Lock the focus: On your subject and then recompose the photograph.
7.  Know your flash's limits: Most flashes are good for subjects up to about ten-feet away.
8.  Watch the angle of the light: Don't have the sun directly in front of your subject. Try using open shade by a wall, under a tree, etc.
9.  Take some vertical pictures: You can take pictures of people using a horizontal format and you can shoot landcapes in a vertical format!
10.

Direct your subject: Tell them where you like them to stand/how to pose.
